According to NCIS Los Angeles spoilers, Linda Hunt’s character, Hetty Lange, is retiring. We say NO for the following reasons. For one thing, NCIS requires her. Her replacement was fired in the final episode of the previous season!
NCIS: Los Angeles Spoilers – Linda Hunt Has Appeared In Several Shows Throughout Her Career
Viewers of NCIS: Los Angeles may have recognized Linda from her roles in films such as Space Rangers, The Practice, Carnivalé, Kindergarten Cop, and Scorpion. Linda has also provided voiceovers for animated films such as Disney’s Pocahontas and Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, NCIS viewers will agree that her portrayal of the feisty Hetty Lange is her most well-known role. Hetty has been the Operations Manager at NCIS Los Angeles’ Office of Special Projects, or OSP, since the show first aired in 2009. Hetty’s bark is worse than her bite, as long-time NCIS: Los Angeles viewers know! She took in war orphans and Agent Grisha “G” Callen (Chris O’Donnell) as a teenager after returning from active duty in Vietnam, and she also performed the marriage of Agents Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) in season 10.
Spoilers for NCIS: Los Angeles – Where Has Hetty Lange Been?
Viewers of NCIS: Los Angeles will recall that at the start of season 12, Hetty video-called Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith) and told her she needed her to fill in at NCIS. Hetty didn’t reveal where she was or what she was doing to Nell (or NCIS: Los Angeles viewers), but it was later revealed that she was in Afghanistan on a covert mission. Hetty reappeared in the season 12 finale, but fans were concerned that the 76-year-old Hunt was retiring. Later, it was revealed that she was simply playing it safe because the C0V1D pand3m1c was still raging at the time season 12 was filmed. Hunt even filmed her few appearances in her own driveway at her personal residence! Throughout the season, Callen and others wondered if she had left NCIS until they discovered she was on the mission in Afghanistan.
Los Angeles NCIS Spoilers: Renee Felice Smith has left the show, and Nell Jones has followed her.
Viewers of NCIS: Los Angeles will recall that when Hetty made her brief reappearance, two NCIS: Los Angeles team members left! That was Nell Jones, Hetty’s replacement, and Eric Beale (Barrett Foa). They left Los Angeles, as did NCIS, on their way to Tokyo, Japan. That leaves Hetty to run the OSP on her own for the time being, at least until she can find a suitable replacement. Viewers will recall that Hetty is extremely picky about who she would accept as her replacement.
It has long been assumed that Hetty saw Nell as a younger version of herself, which is why she adored her and drafted her to replace her. She did, however, understand when Nell wanted to leave, especially since she was leaving with her not-so-secret love Eric Beale! Will Linda Hunt and Hetty Lange retire at the same time? That could happen, but not in season 13! NCIS: Los Angeles is set to return on October 10, 2021.
